Automatic Waste Loading System

This option is designed to assist and automate the loading of waste into the incinerator.

The PD can be fitted with a hydraulically operated waste ram loading system. This facility allows the continuous loading of waste even while the chamber is hot.

Loading systems are designed to suit the application and can be used to load small carcasses such as cats, dogs, sheep and calves as well as larger animals for example horses, cows and camels up to 1200 Kg in weight.

For small animal carcasses and other general waste material, a waste bin tipper system can be incorporated to further minimize waste handling.

Powered Winch for heavy carcass loading

For batch loading systems, the PD can be supplied with an electrically operated power winch. This system allows the operator to load large or medium size carcasses into the primary chamber effortlessly. The winch system can pull up to 2500 Kg thus is capable of loading almost all sizes of animals. The winch unit is safe, clean and simple to use.

Hydraulic Door

This option is for ease of opening and closing of the main incinerator doors.

The unit can be fitted with hydraulically operated rams to power the doors open and closed. Controls can be panel mounted or a remote lead and handheld control unit.

Under-Hearth Firing

In the case of certain waste with high fat content, it may be necessary to incorporate under-hearth firing. This facility consists of a suspended precast refractory floor, over a chamber where a burner or burners fire. The result is a 'hot heart' all fats burn through completely.

Liquid Injection System

PD Models can be fitted with liquid waste injection systems for the safe disposal of aqueous liquids, blood, chemicals and tallow.

The Liquid Injection system is operated with compressed air and is fitted with a pre & post purge anti-blocking system.

Flue gas cooling and de-dusting system

For some applications, it may be required that the flue gases are cooled to below 400°C before exiting the chimney. For this, a standard forced draught cooling system can be offered. The system consisting of refractory lined duct having a centrifugal fan mounted and angled to enhance complete mixing of the cooling air and the flue gases. Automatically controlled via the main incinerator control panel.

De-dusting is an additional feature for applications where fly-ash from the waste could be a problem, such as, security waste, paper and packaging. The de-dusting system consists of a large cylindrical refractory lined chamber with a de-ash trap at the base and flue exit at the top. Flue gases enter the chamber, due to large volume, the gas velocity is reduced allowing the heavy fly-ash to drop to the base of the de-dusting Chamber. A re-heat burner can also be provided.

Ceramic Filtration System

Depending upon the legislative requirements regarding flue gas emission levels, it may be necessary to install a flue gas filtration systems. Howden can offer a variety of flue gas filtration system from 'State of the art' dry gas ceramic filtration to wet scrubbing systems and de-dusting units.

Howden flue gas filtration systems comply with the latest EC, UK & US directives for air pollution control.

Howden incinerator systems can be upgraded from the basic BS3316 standard to Full EC Standards if required.
